[B] Scope of Service:

(1) Vendor needs to provide mobile fare collection system
- to provide, implement, and support a mobile first, next generation fare collection service
- a convenient and widely accessible solution to pay for seamless travel across all services, and in the future, other mobility modes
- The fare collection system is a crucial touch point for customers boarding any service and is therefore a critically important factor in achieving stated vision and mission. The current fare collection operation is a collection of multiple systems
- The interfaces between the current fare collection systems and other systems (such as the accounting system) are accomplished manually
- The central platform receives and manages TVMs data via fiber optic and cellular connections depending on their location. Information from fareboxes can automatically transfer over Garage WiFi or manually transferred upon garage pull-in as part of cash collection using fare probes or portable data units (mobile fare probe computers).
- to upgrade or supplement its current fare collection system to meet customer demand and improve system efficiency
- The Contractor shall provide a system which will allow to provide a next generation fare collection experience with various features and functionality provided in a modular fashion. Being cognizant of implementation phases and priorities and its customers, features have been categorized into different categories, core and enhanced
- The system shall preferably be able to deliver all of the functionality and features, including core functionality that is required from the outset, and enhanced functionality that may be on a longer-term roadmap
- Core Functionality:
- Web or mobile based fare payment
- Electronic fare validation onboard buses, trolleys, and ferries
- Electronic fare validation for non-gate-controlled light rail operations
- Fare product and business rules management, including discounted fares
- Features to support institutional partnerships
- Fare validator device management, including remote and onboard device diagnostics
- Fare system reporting, including location-based data and ad-hoc reporting
- Customer account management, including stored value and pass products
- Retail partnerships for loading cash on electronic media (mobile and smartcard cash digitization)
- Fare media management, including support for smart cards
- Enhanced Functionality:
- Fare capping, Trip planning tools, Open payments, Third-party fare retail device for cash payment options, Single point onboard login to validator through Computer-Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) system, Transportation Network Company (TNC) and third-party mobility provider integration, TVM integration, Handheld mobile inspection, Rear-door validation.
(2) A pre-proposal meeting will be held on October 22, 2021
(3) All the questions must be submitted no later than October 27, 2021.
